Guests will have the chance to experience the relationship between the Ahousaht people, the land, ocean and animals. The Fishing guides will access all of the First Nations Territory including Ocean, rivers, estuaries to provide rich and diverse habitat to explore. Our Tofino Fishing trips will focus on this wealth of knowledge in providing each guest with an experience that is exhilarating and richly rewarding.

We offer a full off-shore fishing experience focused on deep sea Salmon Species, (Sockeye, Coho, Pink and Spring Salmon) Halibut, and Rock Fish.
Madison J also offers Skate and Shark fishing a unique and exciting way to experience deep sea fishing on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

River Fishing:
We are proud to offer guests the full lifecycle of the Salmon experience. Traditional bow fishing, dip-net and spear fishing in addition to rod and reel fishing. The Ahousaht people have Fished for thousands of years.
River fishing for Salmon (chum, coho and steelhead) is at its peak during the Spring and Fall season.

Offshore and Inshore Fishing:
The Focus for the Spring Winter and Fall seasons is to explore the abundance of the inner-coast with trips offshore. (weather permitting) Traditionally our people fished all year long and utilized the protected waters during the storm season to fish species in abundance like Salmon, Halibut, Rock Fish and one of our most precious food sources; Herring. We offer our guests the experience and excitement of Herring Fishery. First Nations guides will take you to the spawning waters used by Herring. Guests will have the chance to free dive with the fish as they spawn in the crystal clear water. Take home some of the roe as well as fresh Herring.

FISHING GUIDES:
- Kurt John started commercial fishing out of Ahousaht when he was 13yrs old. Kurt was taught by his Grandfather, Father and uncles not only how to fish, but where to fish based on traditional teachings on where the fish are at specific times of the year. He has over 25yrs experience on the water as a deck-hand, navigator, 1st mate and ticketed Skipper.

- Greg Hayes has been fishing since he was 10yrs old in the Ahousaht Territory with his Grandfather. He has worked on the Ahousaht Commercial freight boat, the Command Performance for the last 4yrs, he started as a deck-hand and had been skipper for the last 2yrs.

- Francis John (Head Guide), Kurt's father has lived and worked in Ahousaht Territory all his life. His experience includes over 35yrs in the Commercial fishing on large trawlers to local First Nations Mosquito Fleet and in the Logging Industry. He has served on Council as an elected member for 20yrs. Francis and Kurt have been fishing together for many years and have a combined wealth of knowledge. Francis also holds his 120tonne skippers ticket, Marine Radio Operators, Medical and First Aid Tickets from Transport Canada, and Engineering ticket.
